San Andreas Fault Line

The San Andreas fault line is a transform fault. It is a result of continental/continental side to side plate movement. The landscape features of the Pacific and North American plates show an obvious fault line, as seen in the image above. Essentially, the Pacific plate is slowly moving upwards, and the North American plate is moving down. Anything built on the fault line, such as factories, resevoirs, etc. have had structure damage and required constant repairs, affecting human development along the line.
