Hurricane Jimena formed on the coast of Mexico's pacific headed close to Baja California Peninsula.
Satellite images are used to warn civilians of what might be coming at them, with hurricanes they can see the clear path of destruction.
Hurricane Jimena increased its strength to a category 3 storm on the 30th of August. Category 3 hurricanes are classified as 'destructive' and if you read up on Hurricane Jimena you will see that this is indeed true. On that same day, Jemina increased to a category 4, nearing a category 5 on September 1st 2009. When the hurricane hit Mexico on September 3rd, it caused $58.9 million in damage, killed 3 people, and left Mexico with 2 missing people.
