The burmese python is an enormous constricting snake which can reach lengths of over 5 metres. The python is causing great damage in the southeast US such as the Florida everglades. In the last five years over 150 000 of these snakes have been imported for the pet trade, many of which have escaped of been released into the tropical florida climate. The pythons make themselves home and with their great size take over the habitat of many native species.
