Post #6 River features (Oxbow Lake)
This is a picture of an oxbow lake, this is the product of and over developed meander. When the two meanders erode the land so far they eventually connect. The river takes the path of least resistance and a bank begins to cut off the meander. Finally, only the meander remains, leaving behind a horse shoe shaped lake. This feature will eventually fade and become a scar on the land. This feature generally develops from a mature lake.
