One of the effects of acid reain is that it destroys forests. The main reason for this is that the acidic water gets into the root systems of trees. This damages the roots and nutrients can not be taken the the rest of the tree properly. Eventually foliage starts to brown and the tree begins to die as it can't get the proper nutrients.
